Associate Lawyer (accepting applications)

Posted: Sept. 14, 2026
Start date: Flexible

Who We Are

Angrove Law is a small, virtual law firm that operates in Ontario. Hilary Angrove is a mother, entrepreneur, and lawyer. She built Angrove Law as a place that does law differently. We take a collaborative approach and provide upfront, flat-fee pricing for set legal services (legal products). We mainly work in contract law with our main services being family law (marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements, divorce mediation). We have recently started growing our employment law and small business legal advice practice.

We work 100% virtually and have regular meetings as a team, legal knowledge sharing meetings between our staff and seasoned experts that we bring in. Mark Taylor the co-founder meets regularly with everyone as marketing is critical to our growth. We create helpful content on our website and on YouTube that demystifies the law, lets our future clients get to know us, our values, and feel confident in choosing our law firm.

Each legal service we offer has a similar flat-fee process, so each client proceeds through with our system with ease. For the occasional matters that required extra work beyond our set scope it is billed hourly.

We are building a law firm that was not only great for the clients but also for you, the lawyers that work here. As a friendly and calm atmosphere where efficiency is rewarded and bonuses are achievable, instead of unrealistic hours.

Who You Are:

You are an Ontario lawyer with 2+ years of experience (please apply if you have more or less experience and are interested). You are resourceful and a self-starter. You care about the quality of your work, and are proud of every contract you put your legal seal on. You have a doer personality type and recognize that you have the opportunity to grow with Angrove Law and become a pivotal part in our workplace culture, values, and opportunities.

You are smart and creative. You identify how the client’s wishes fit within the boundaries of the law. You do your own research, and find creative solutions that you can bring to the table.

You are collaborative. You enjoy being treated as an equal and are not afraid to bounce ideas off your colleagues. You strike a balance being strong in your convictions, with being open minded to learning, and seeing a different point of view.

You are resourceful and analytical, what the client wants is not always possible within the confines of the law. You are expected to review and use the precedents that we have, and also do legal research to find new solutions that you can use to create new precedents.

You have a roll up your sleeves attitude. As a small law firm you will be working on a variety of different aspects of our business. From writing legal articles on our website, taking consult calls, taking part in youtube videos and even working on streamlining our processes. We do not expect you to come in as an expert in these areas, and will provide training and coaching, but we do expect you to learn and improve your own skills in a multi faceted way.

What success looks like in this role:

In month 1 you are expected to get up to speed on our processes, and be confident to draft agreements accurately by yourself. For basic agreements you should be able to handle the entire client process (excluding the consult call). You should also be confident in researching and writing legal articles, based on our content outlines that will be published on our website.

By month 1-3 you should be able to own the entire client process by yourself. You should be able to confidently complete any new client case, even if we do not have a precedent for the situation. You will be meeting targets.

You are expected to learn from your mistakes, and make improvements. This is a standard that we hold ourselves to and always strive to become better.
